The Playlist Mix Podcast launched on Sunday March 25th 2007 and is the creation of KilkennyMusic.com’s Ken McGuire. Following a pilot three show run, the podcast returned in full swing in September/October 2007, running through 2008 and now into 2009. Each week sees six acts introduced with some of their background, upcoming gigs, news and a track from each.

This eclectic podcast draws from a large archive of podsafe (safe for podcast) audio from around the web and, for that matter, around the world with sounds varying from indie to rock, alternative to punk, classical to tradtional. There is no preference to a specific genre – if the music is independent and podsafe, that’s what counts.

In October 2008, the Playlist Mix podcast was named as Best Podcaster at the 2008 Irish Web Awards.
