Playlist Mix #49

Playlist Mix 49 featuring Darragh J Glennon

Aha, the 49th Playlist Mix podcast has landed. Sure enough, we’ve another six acts and another six tracks including a second one from featured band for February, The Funeral Suits, and a new one from Donegal-based Pavesi who you’ll be able to catch gigging in Dublin at the end of the month. Hitting show 49 means there’s one podcast to go before the 50th, a nice milestone to hit considering where it all started and how long it took to get things going!

Don’t forget you can also follow the podcast on Twitter by visiting http://twitter.com/playlistmix or by dropping over to the Playlist Mix MySpace.

This week’s tracks include

That’s it for another week. As of last week you can also pick the podcast up on the Blubrry network, something I’m happy now to be a part of and hope it will continue to raise the profile of the podcast.

Playlist Mix #48

Playlist Mix 48 featuring The Very Most

The first podcast for March brings with it six more tracks, five free downloads, four more featured acts, three promo videos, two new feeds and one tired host. Not a band countdown for tonight’s show, all things considered. With recent moves from Google to shake up the FeedBurner delivery of feeds I’ve wound up changing the feeds for the podcast, introducing a new feed for the show audio only, and one for shows and posts combined.

If you’ve also been following the blog during the week you’ll have picked up on the free mp3 giveaways, five published so far with another 41 to come as PlaylistMix.com and CubikMusik.com give away an MP3 download a day for the run of lent. Sure lent is 40 days and 40 nights but by the calendar it’s 46 days so you’ll get 46 podsafe downloads right up to Easter. Sure why not! Check out today’s download from Low Sea Roar or check the downloads so far in the series.

Music this week comes from

  1. Hurt – ‘Pandora’
  2. Froud – ‘Nostalgia’
  3. The Very Most – ‘April Is The Kindest Month’
  4. Wayne Brennan – ‘Please, Please’
  5. The Simple Pleasure – ‘The Brave and The Free’
  6. Heritage Centre – ‘You Are Something’

The four featured bands for March 2009 are Heritage Centre, The Very Most (both featured this week), The Funeral Suits and Serial Twin – more music from them next week. Check out this week’s tracks on mix.playlistmix.com, follow the podcast on Twitter or drop an email to podcast@playlistmix.com to get in touch.

Playlist Mix #47

Playlist Mix 47 featuring Graystar

It’s Sunday the 22nd of February and it’s time for the 47th Playlist Mix podcast. The acts this week are again primarily Irish (nice to see) with five of six acts from green shores and Graystar hailing from the UK. The podcast is available to download but will be replaced at some stage on Monday February 23rd with a higher quality track – after uploading I’ve spotted an error with the mic track, as you do but rather than hold off on the music I’ll let you enjoy tonight’s six acts.

This week’s mix brings you tracks from

With this being the last podcast of February, next show around we’ll have a new bunch of featured bands and some more new music for you. The mix tape will also reset but for now, you can click here to listen to 24 tracks from the playlisted acts over the month of February.

For now, it’s time to get some sleep after the Irish Blog Awards last night – epic session in Cork which will no doubt see people with a few sore heads, even at this stage of Sunday night.

Don’t forget to check out the Playlist Mix MySpace or follow the podcast on Twitter.

Playlist Mix 46

Playlist Mix 46 featuring Heritage Centre

Back for the third podcast of the month, the 46th Playlist Mix lands with a nice smattering of Irish acts for your listening pleasure. This week I’ve been listening to a host of Irish acts with new releases – Parhelia have just released their ‘Shifting Sands’ album and there’s a track from that while Heritage Centre release ‘The City, The Tree & The Fox’ this coming weekend, so there’s an introduction to that EP as well. It’s also been a busy week in many regards around PlaylistMix.com as more introductions to the site are made including the Playlist Mix Tape giving you access to the month’s current listening selection. Head over to mix.playlistmix.com or check the ‘Mix’ link from the menu for tracks from shows 44 and 45 along with this week’s selection.

Don’t forget our four featured bands as well, all of whom I’ve been speaking to during the week. You’ve got Homespun [the.band], Pavesi, The Unravelling and The Lions Mane all part of this month’s featured acts.

This week’s mix features

  1. Heritage Centre – ‘Losing Touch’
  2. Saving J – ‘Indication Street’
  3. JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound – ‘How To Stop Loving Someone Who Stopped Loving You’
  4. On The Cinnamon – ‘Hide & Seek’
  5. Serial Twin – ‘Things That I Fear’
  6. Parhelia – ‘Our Ship Has Sailed’

If you would like to submit tracks for shows 47 / 48 then drop me a line before midweek with your MP3s. You can send everything to podcast@playlistmix.com or look up the podcast on Twitter – it’s open pretty much most hours of the day and is rapidly becoming the quickest way to get in touch (near-immediate response assured).

Until next week and show 47,

Enjoy.

Playlist Mix #45

Playlist Mix 45 featuring The Lions Mane

The second podcast of 2009 lands and the 45th show overall has another six acts for you coming in the forms of The Crash Moderns, That’s What She Said, The Funeral Suits, A Band Called Quinn, South and The Lions Mane. What’s more is that the new PlaylistMix.com has launched. Tires will be kicked and some Internet Explorerness will be mended (I’m just going to assume it’s broken, what else can you do with IE really?) over the next day or so but for the moment – enjoy the new site.

The homepage now plays host to a rearranged blog and player feature along with a new spot for the featured bands mentioned on last week’s podcast. Don’t forget that this month’s featured bands include Homespun, Pavesi, The Unravelling and The Lions Mane, each act getting some additional plays on the podcast, plays and features both here on the site and via MySpace and anywhere else we can dig our claws into. This will gradually get bigger over the course of the year but please, go check out these bands and support their music.

This week’s mix is as follows

  1. The Crash Moderns – ‘Where Did All The Scene Girls Go’
  2. That’s What She Said – ‘Partisan’
  3. The Funeral Suits – ‘Start Of The End’
  4. A Band Called Quinn – ‘Invincible’
  5. South – ‘Levity’
  6. The Lions Mane – ‘Buddha’

If you want to get involved, find out more about the features or send your music for inclusion on a show, then drop a line to podcast@playlistmix.com. If you’ve got giveaways (we’ll look after the postage on this end), physical press packs or CDs you’d like to submit for review or inclusion in the show then again, send an email to the above address and we’ll give you some address details to send your goodies on to.

Don’t forget too that for this year you can follow the podcast on Twitter via @playlistmix.

Until next Sunday,

Enjoy,

K

Playlist Mix #44

The Playlist Mix Show #44

It’s 2009, a new year, a new run of the Playlist Mix Podcast which finally returns after a lengthy Christmas break.

While the new PlaylistMix.com site is just a few days away it’s good to get the ball rolling with the podcast again. There’s some new online features and additions to come to the show over 2009 as a result of some planning time afforded by the Christmas break. When you’re running things week to week it’s nice to be able to down tools for a while and focus on the year ahead.

The focus for this week though is on the music and there’s six new bands for you to enjoy in this week’s mix.

You’ve got

Just like last year, if you want to get in touch, drop me an email to podcast@playlistmix.com. A quick way of getting in touch during the day is via Twitter – just add @playlistmix on Twitter and you’re set.

Keep an eye on PlaylistMix.com itself during the week for the lowdown on the new updates – it’s all coming this week!

Feels good to be back…

Update:In my haste, I gave the incorrect URL for The Unravelling – check them out instead at http://myspace.com/theunravellingmusic

Playlist Mix #43

Playlist Mix 43 featuring Halves

Better late than never, the 43rd Playlist Mix touches down with a healthy blend of French and Irish-based artists for your musical pleasure this week.

It’s also the mark of a short break for the Playlist Mix as I’m disconnecting this Sunday for two weeks. While arrangements are half-made for someone to stand in on my Wednesday podcast (Sound System), I’ve made no such arrangements for the Playlist Mix and as such you’ll just have to enjoy the 43rd show for a little longer.

However, the podcast will return on the first week of December so you won’t have to wait too long.

Looking to this week’s podcast though there’s music to be had from

As always you can leave a comment on the podcast below, drop an email to podcast AT playlistmix DOT com or drop by the Playlist Mix MySpace and introduce yourself.

Show 44 goes live on Tuesday December 2nd so until then,

Enjoy.
