In particular, check out the tracks from Plinth and Sensual Harassment along with the mystery-machine-esque sounds of Calvita from Atomic Hoarsebox.

Getting your tracks into the podcast is easy with submissions obviously preferred now over Soundcloud (given the ease of the service) to email, but if you want to email in anything you can drop a line to podcast [at] playlistmix.com. You can also follow the podcast on Twitter here.

Hopefully I’ll have two more podcasts squeezed out between now and friday as I’m away on holidays next weekend for a bit. For those of you in Dublin (that’s a good gathering of Irish podcasters), I’ll see you at the Irish Web Awards in the Radisson this coming Saturday night.

Until next week,

Enjoy the mix.

It’s a cold Monday night in Kilkenny as the 57th Playlist Mix hits the web. There’s a guest in the studio too, staying quiet for the moment; there’s music from Ireland, Iceland, Switzerland, the US… and for us it’s three-in-a-row for the start of the Autumn season.

Of course, it is Monday, that note highlighted thanks to the return the NFL. We (we as in Ken) got away with it last year but with the season returning, there’s a new blog on the horizon in the form of FirstDown.ie (check First Down on Twitter). So with Sunday night action taking centre stage for the month, we’re on a Monday night buzz for September. But that’s the joy of the web, yes?

On to the music, this week’s tracks include

Olafur Arnalds – Fok

Saving J – Everybody

Clive Barnes – Shotgun Grin

Herring Bones – Box Shaped Heart

Spank The Chemical Christians – A Plague Of Swine

Kwest feat. Anna – Graber (Radio Edit)

If you want to get in touch, find us on Twitter, drop us an email, or post a track in the drop box at Soundcloud.com.

That’s it for 57, back next weekend for 58.

The fiftieth (five-oh) podcast hits the web a few hours later than expected, but in making up for it, there’s an addition nine (count em) tracks for you as the Playlist Mix marks its fiftieth show with fifteen tracks for your listening pleasure. Tied up in the mix this week is a healthy balance of acts from Ireland, the UK and US. There’s also a lot less chatter this week as it can be tricky (as one finds out) in cramming fifteen tracks into an hour of listening – oh the fun that was had in coming up with the mix last night! Hitting show 49 means there’s one podcast to go before the 50th, a nice milestone to hit considering where it all started and how long it took to get things going!

Don’t forget you can also follow the podcast on Twitter by visiting http://twitter.com/playlistmix or by dropping over to the Playlist Mix MySpace.

The first podcast for March brings with it six more tracks, five free downloads, four more featured acts, three promo videos, two new feeds and one tired host. Not a band countdown for tonight’s show, all things considered. With recent moves from Google to shake up the FeedBurner delivery of feeds I’ve wound up changing the feeds for the podcast, introducing a new feed for the show audio only, and one for shows and posts combined.

If you’ve also been following the blog during the week you’ll have picked up on the free mp3 giveaways, five published so far with another 41 to come as PlaylistMix.com and CubikMusik.com give away an MP3 download a day for the run of lent. Sure lent is 40 days and 40 nights but by the calendar it’s 46 days so you’ll get 46 podsafe downloads right up to Easter. Sure why not! Check out today’s download from Low Sea Roar or check the downloads so far in the series.

Back when the podcast was a brain fart on a Sunday night, almost two years ago now, I’d been doing some digging around for some podsafe music and came across this gem of a track.

It’s a long one, ringing up at the post six-minute mark but it’s got a great feel to it. Very Radiohead inspired, reminding me of some of the Pablo Honey releases. They’ve been quiet (on the web front) over the bulk of the past year but last month they got around to uploading a new track, We Won’t Let You Drown, on the Infotourist MySpace.

Headquartered in Kingston, Ontario, Canada you can also find them on Infotourist.org.

This gem, ‘Have I Gone Astray’ is your first of 46 tracks for lent and is taken from Infotourist’s ‘Selected Case Studies’

Back when the podcast was a brain fart on a Sunday night, almost two years ago now, I'd been doing some digging around for some podsafe music and came across this gem of a track.

It's a long one, ringing up at the post six-minute mark but it's got a great feel to it. Very Radiohead inspired, reminding me of some of the Pablo Honey releases. They've been quiet (on the web front) over the bulk of the past year but last month they got around to uploading a new track, We Won't Let You Drown, on the Infotourist MySpace.

Headquartered in Kingston, Ontario, Canada you can also find them on Infotourist.org.

This gem, 'Have I Gone Astray' is your first of 46 tracks for lent and is taken from Infotourist's 'Selected Case Studies'

Infotourist - Have I Gone Astray (6:37, 6.1mb)

Heritage Centre, who were featured on Playlist Mix 46, have released ‘The City, The Tree & The Fox’ to the public, the EP release hitting shops and the web on Friday gone.

This is a great release. The music is totally infectious with non of your indie-pop crap. It makes for great listening and great repeat-listening at that as well. The launch gig in Whelan’s in Dublin was a sell-out and the band go on to play Dolan’s in Limerick this Friday night. ‘You Are Something’ makes for a great start and the quality of performance and writing doesn’t dip at all throughout with ‘Death By Science’, the TV-friendly ‘Losing Touch’, the much edgier ‘Stars’, ‘Somehow I Feel Cheated’ and ‘Your Leaders are Dead’ all on the cards. Consider them firmly chalked down on the list of Irish bands to see in action this year.

Debut EP? More please!
