Playlist Mix #50

showcard50

The fiftieth (five-oh) podcast hits the web a few hours later than expected, but in making up for it, there’s an addition nine (count em) tracks for you as the Playlist Mix marks its fiftieth show with fifteen tracks for your listening pleasure. Tied up in the mix this week is a healthy balance of acts from Ireland, the UK and US. There’s also a lot less chatter this week as it can be tricky (as one finds out) in cramming fifteen tracks into an hour of listening – oh the fun that was had in coming up with the mix last night! Actually, looking back at the mix, the Irish have the serious advantage here with 11 of 15 tracks coming from homegrown acts.

Don’t forget to check out the four featured bands for this month – The Very Most, The Funeral Suits, Serial Twin and Heritage Centre.

The playlist for this week brings tracks from

  1. Hybrasil – We’ve Got Music
  2. God Blind Scientists – Talk Of The Town
  3. Gum – Can’t Tell A Heart
  4. Nell Bryden – Late Night Call
  5. Rilo Kiley – With Arms Outstretched
  6. Ian Whitty & The Exchange – City Friend
  7. Super Extra Bonus Party – Everything Flows
  8. Tenaka – Open Up
  9. Flinders – Corners First, Middle Later
  10. Serial Twin – Burn It All
  11. Mumblin’ Deaf Ro – The Hero Is A Graduate
  12. Vesta Varro – Blue Mirror Boy
  13. Dirty Epics – The Cure
  14. New York Fashion Week – Dear Spartacus
  15. Myp Et Jeep – Enough Is Enough

Until next week and show 51, enjoy the Playlist Mix. If you want to drop me a line, please do, you can email podcast@playlistmix.com or follow Playlist Mix on Twitter.

Playlist Mix #39

We’re at number 39 with the Playlist Mix this week and seen as there’ll be some attention given towards the Irish Web Awards taking place in Dublin this Saturday, it seems right that I pick a number of Irish acts to feature in the podcast (or at least more than usual anyway).

This week you’ll get five of six of your acts coming from Ireland while you’re sixth act has been visiting and performing in Ireland over the last ten years or so.

There’s music on the cards from

  1. Dirty Epics – The Cure
  2. Rich Wyman – Colours
  3. Darragh J. Glennon – Closer
  4. Baby Jenx – Sell Yourself
  5. Lights Over Phoenix – Faceless
  6. Burma Shade – Bitter

The podcast is nominated for Best Podcast(er) at the 2008 Irish Web Awards and although I’m not expecting anything in the slightest, it’s going to be great to get to Dublin at the weekend (not often I do) and catch up with the crowd up there and those I’ve gotten to know over the last few months and years.

As always, feel free to send your tracks and comments to podcast@playlistmix.com.

If you’re heading along to the awards, be sure and say hello.

Until next week,

Enjoy.

Six more new tracks from six international acts once again with music coming from the UK, US, Canada and Ireland. There’s also the return of two of my favourite acts to the podcast – A Band Called Quinn and Heroin Skinny.
