We’re trucking on past the 50 mark and bring you Playlist Mix 51 with another six tracks from another six fine acts. Outside of the music world it’s been a great weekend here in Ireland – United lost, Chelsea lost, Liverpool hammered Aston Villa, Ireland won the Grand Slam, Bernard Dunne took a world boxing title so the podcast comes to you this weekend on a bit of a high.
I also made it along to the launch gig for Myp Et Jeep’s Blood Is Not Enough debut album release in Kilkenny tonight, the album hitting the shops this coming weekend, so there’s a track for you there in tonight’s mix.
All in all you’ve got music from
Next week’s podcast comes from Amsterdam, should be an interesting one. If you want to get in touch, drop me a line on Twitter or via email to podcast@playlistmix.com.
Until next week,
Enjoy.

I wound up away for the day yesterday and didn’t get around to posting yesterday’s song in time so for your Sunday you get a double-helping of downloads with a track from Codaphonic that featured on Playlist Mix 11 and another from Senses Fail that opened up Playlist Mix 12.
Codaphonic released a great album in the shape of ‘The Ballad of Codaphonic’ over a year ago now with this track, Ritalin, lifted from it.
Senses Fail released their current album offering of ‘Life Is Not A Waiting Room’ in October last year and are currently touring (between February and April) as part of the Saints and Sinners Tour before starting a UK and European tour from mid April.
Enjoy today’s tunes and don’t forget to check back for the 49th Playlist Mix Podcast later on.

The fifth of 46 tracks for your lenten listening comes from Low Sea Roar, featured on Playlist Mix #5. San Francisco’s Low Sea Roar was formed in the wintry throws of January 2007 over beers and burgers at the Zeitgeist by Andrea Caturegli, Jake Hosek (both formerly of The Stratford 4), Adam Hain and Brandon Tomas.
Though featured back in late 2007, it’s looking like they’ve been fairly quiet or non-existant since mid to late 2008. Still, they did have some pretty good tunes and you can still grab a listen on their MySpace or download ‘Sirens’ below.

Track four for your lent listening is ‘Cold Truth’ from The Guggenheim Grotto. You’ll find this track on their ‘Lifetime In Heat’ EP released prior to the September 2005 issue of ‘…Waltzing Alone’, which went on to the top of the iTunes folk charts on its US release. While they’ve got a cult following in Ireland they seem to be making great inroads in the US having spent huge chunks of time there in the last two or three years. I’ve had the pleasure of working with (and playing with) the band on numerous occasions and they’ve featured previously on the podcast on show #7.
Formerly a three-piece and now a touring duo, Kevin May and Mick Lynch are The Guggenheim Grotto. These guys write terrific songs, are great performers and great to work with. They’ve been in the US since January and looks like they’re staying there until April when they come home for a short tour before heading back again in the summer. Reading their latest MySpace blog it looks like they’re back in the song-writing groove as well so hopefully it won’t be another three years before we get a follow-on to current album ‘Happy The Man’.
Visit GuggenheimGrotto.com to get your free copy of the EP or check the TGG MySpace.

Back when the podcast was a brain fart on a Sunday night, almost two years ago now, I’d been doing some digging around for some podsafe music and came across this gem of a track.
It’s a long one, ringing up at the post six-minute mark but it’s got a great feel to it. Very Radiohead inspired, reminding me of some of the Pablo Honey releases. They’ve been quiet (on the web front) over the bulk of the past year but last month they got around to uploading a new track, We Won’t Let You Drown, on the Infotourist MySpace.
Headquartered in Kingston, Ontario, Canada you can also find them on Infotourist.org.
This gem, ‘Have I Gone Astray’ is your first of 46 tracks for lent and is taken from Infotourist’s ‘Selected Case Studies’

Oh it’s Wednesday… the podcast is a few hours late albeit having recorded the show for upload yesterday. Between web cuts and power cuts it’s finally made it online for your weekly dose of independent music.
I should also mention, if there are any podcasters or social media junkies or enthusiasts (including bands!) interested in discovering how you can use social media tools and technologies to promote yourself online, then why not drop along to PodCamp Ireland taking place in Kilkenny this coming September 27th (a Saturday).
Plugs aside, here’s what you’ve got this week…
If you’ve enjoyed listening to the show or would like to get in touch and submit your own music for inclusion then drop me a line – podcast@playlistmix.com.
Until next week,
Take it easy.

Well, well, well. Almost four months on (literally) since the last podcast (May 13th if you were counting or observing around the website) and the Playlist Mix hits show number 34, at long last. Of course at this stage we should likely be cruising into our 50s but no such luck – perhaps by the end of the year.
So yeah, the podcast is back, the mics are being dusted off, inboxes being cleared of music and snippets on bands and gigs and I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things.
Picking up exactly where things left off in May, the podcast returns with another six tracks from another six acts for you. This week you have the pleasure of listening to
As always, if you want to get involved by sending in comments, audio comments tracks for the podcast, suggestions for bands or indeed your own preferred six tracks for a nominated podcast then please do email me, podcast@playlistmix.com. I’d love to hear from you.
Until next week, let’s settle back into the groove and enjoy PLM 34.
