The Playlist Mix Podcast has been nominated (long-listed) for the 2008 Irish Web Awards, a new annual awards show celebrating the best of the Irish internet scene from podcasts to ecommerce, media to sport, entertainment education and more.
I’m delighted to see the show included amongst some of the creme of Irish podcasts. More more details, see my note on kenmc.com earlier today.

Oh it’s Wednesday… the podcast is a few hours late albeit having recorded the show for upload yesterday. Between web cuts and power cuts it’s finally made it online for your weekly dose of independent music.
I should also mention, if there are any podcasters or social media junkies or enthusiasts (including bands!) interested in discovering how you can use social media tools and technologies to promote yourself online, then why not drop along to PodCamp Ireland taking place in Kilkenny this coming September 27th (a Saturday).
Plugs aside, here’s what you’ve got this week…
- Myp Et Jeep – Enough Is Enough
- Codaphonic – Never Slows Down
- Chemical Addiction – Brian Jones
- The Distraction – Meet The Wrecking Ball
- General Fuzz – Eye Heart Knot
- Curious – Rain
If you’ve enjoyed listening to the show or would like to get in touch and submit your own music for inclusion then drop me a line – podcast@playlistmix.com.
Until next week,
Take it easy.

Once you see the younger ones in your locality donning school uniforms and heading back to the books, you know the summer is over.
Me? I’ve been immersed in a summer of theatre with The Devious Theatre Company, who I’ll shortly start producing a series of podcast plays for.
The good news for you? The Playlist Mix is set to return in a week’s time, picking right up where things left off, perhaps with a bit of a revamp in place and perhaps with a few more features in the mix as well.
Don’t be afraid… get subscribing today!
To the 170+ acts who have been submitted my way in the last three months, thank you very much, rest assured your music will get into the show eventually. In the mean time, if you’ve got anything to add then don’t be afraid to get in touch!

Better late than never, the 33rd Playlist Mix has arrived with a fresh batch of tunes, all from Canada this week. Apologies again to those who were looking forward to the podcast last Tuesday but as certain situations presented themselves at the last minute last week, the podcast took a week off. Though it hasn’t stopped you listening to the previous 32 shows released on PlaylistMix.com so far!
This week sees the return of Canadian metal outfit Inner Surge to the podcast along with newcomers to PlaylistMix.com in the form of
- +Nurse – ‘Gideons’
- Starewell – ‘Broke And Out Of Money’
- Perpetual Emotion Machine ‘Port Moody (150 Dollar Version)’
- Bloodshot Eyez – ‘Fix Me’
- The Puffins – ‘Bad Boys From Leningrad’
- Inner Surge – ‘From The Depths’
If you would like your music featured on the podcast or you would like to nominate / suggest a band or track for the show then email me now on podcast@playlistmix.com. Don’t forget to include MySpace links / Bebo links / iTunes links where possible.
Until next week…

A bit later than normal, or at least later than last week, the 30th Playlist Mix podcast lands “by the skin of its teeth” while we still have a few minutes left in Tuesday night here in Ireland. Of course, if you’re in the US or further west then you’re laughing!
A nice milestone podcast to reach is number 30! Don’t forget to vote for your favourite band from this week’s mix, last week’s top vote going to The Most Serene Republic.
For the 30th podcast you’ve got music from
Don’t forget too, you can get in touch with the podcast by emailing podcast@playlistmix.com. You could also drop by the Playlist Mix MySpace, leave a comment below, click here to contact the show or even subscribe via iTunes or via RSS!
So many ways, so much good music.
Until next week,
Enjoy.

The Playlist Mix returns with another weekly dose of independent music for you and it’s a semi-special podcast as I’m marking the anniversary of the first show on PlaylistMix.com. You can listen back to that show here (featured the likes of Atomic Tangerine, Infotourist, Spinecar and more) or download it if you’re brave enough, the first podcast airing one year ago today.
But, me being me I’m still counting the revival of the podcast as the official anniversary so I’ll see you in October for some cake, that’s when the whole thing took off.
Anyway, this week there’s music from a selection of new and old acts with all but one act having featured previously on the show. You might be getting old acts but you’re getting new music!
There’s tunes from
If you’re a new or existing listener then why not let me know what you think? Drop an email to the studio at podcast@playlistmix.com or leave a note on the Playlist Mix MySpace. Don’t be shy!
Back in a week with six more tracks for you.

If you’re living outside of Ireland you might be surprised to hear that we’re on a three day week! Yesterday was a public holiday, this Friday is a holy day so you’ve got to cram 5 days work into 3 before taking off again on for another weekend!
In my case, I’m cramming in the podcasts, back again with another Playlist Mix for you with six tracks from six acts around the world including stop offs in Florida and Chicago, up to Canada and over as far as Finland.
I also see the podcast subscriber numbers starting to rise a little bit – thank you very much
If you do like what you hear then don’t be a stranger and instead why not let me know what you think? Drop me an email on podcast@playlistmix.com or better still – keep up to date with the podcast by subscribing to the RSS feed!
This week there’s music from
Next week’s show (the “technical” anniversary show will be recorded over the Easter weekend for release early Tuesday evening – or at least that’s the plan for the moment). Until then… take it easy.

A day late, a buck short…. well in fairness, it’s not THAT late, about 10 hours or so but the Playlist Mix returns once again with a weekly dose of independent music for your listening pleasure.
I’m chalking the delay down to a radio appearance last night cutting into my recording time, that and the fact that the house (and subsequently Studio B) was an absolute ice box.
Flash forward to Wednesday morning and the show gets recorded with the aid of several cups of tea and the world is back to normal!
This week you’ve got the pleasure of listening to
As always, if you’d like to comment on the podcast, submit news, gig dates, new music and the likes then drop me an email to podcast@playlistmix.com or find me on MySpace by visiting myspace.com/playlistpodcast.
Until next week…. enjoy!

Tuesday comes around again and so too does the Playlist Mix Podcast.
As we move through February I’ve gone for a subtle love theme for this week’s podcast.
Before you think it, you’re not going to be bombarded with sappy love songs, but the song titles or band names do have something to do with love. Consider it a “valentine” special.
That said, there’s still six acts from the likes of Australia, South Africa, the US, the UK and beyond. Here’s the run down for this week…
Don’t forget – if you enjoy the show, let me know what you think by leaving a comment, or dropping by the MySpace. You can also email tracks and band news to podcast@playlistmix.com for inclusion in future shows. If you’re a BluBrry user, the podcast is also available on the BluBrry network by clicking here.

The 20th Playlist Mix podcast rolls around with another six acts for your listening pleasure.
This week sees four acts from the US, one from Liverpool in the UK and one from Seoul in Korea!
Studio B had it’s hardware upgrade (for the podcasting section) last week and I’m still getting to grips with the new ProTools setup (I had a run at the weekend with some recording) so I reckon by the next show we should be running at full power audio-wise.
Here’s this week’s playlist…
